In Nepal normally the monsoon season begins on June 10 and ends on September 23 every year. By June 18-19, monsoon-triggered rainfall will take place across the country.
And the Nepalese celebrate the ropain festival (Dhan Diwas) on 15th Ashad (June-July) of Nepali calendar every year. This festival is celebrated to mark the start of ropain (rice planting) and also seen as a good fortune for a good harvesting season.

Traditionally, female are involved in planting rice plant and male plowing field. Farmers celebrate this with joy as they invite their neighbors to play in the mud, thrown mud at each other and sing ‘Asare geet’ and dance a traditional folk song that mark out the joy and pain of the farmer living. There is a practice of eating Dahi Chiura (yogurt and beaten rice); drink a special kind of local drink called ‘chyang’ and local alcohols.
